Spanish Elections 20D

This research project aims to gather what the web says about the political parties and their representatives through a number of insights to give as realistic a picture as possible, but it is just an exercise. So we'd like to not hurt any feelings.

The main difficulties in this project are:
1) gathering what's most relevant from each party and candidate and eliminating the rest,
2) calculating the impact of what we have gathered,
3) differentiating between positive and negative impact.

The most popular

The popularity ranking is calculated using a very simple formula:

Total Impact - Negative Impact

where

Impact = 1 + retweets + likes + comments + references

and where 1 is the original mention and the references are links to that mention.

Word Cloud

In order to get an interesting Word Cloud not dominated by obvious terms, Websays uses an algorithm to eliminate terms with low semantic content. We also eliminate the names of political parties and their candidates.
